 - Leading Lab Issues RFI for Next Generation Lab Expansion -

San Diego, Calif., May 7, 2008 – NSS Labs, a world leader in independent security product testing and certification, is conducting a Request for Information (RFI) for IT and Security Testing Products.

NSS Labs is the only independent test lab that executes both security and performance testing against a standardized, published criteria – providing vendors and readers with a common reference framework for product evaluations.

As the thought leader in security testing, NSS Labs continually evaluates and validates testing tools and practices. This is a necessary step prior to selecting, implementing and showcasing the best tools in our publicly published test reports. We are thus requesting leading test tool and service providers to brief our lab engineering team on their products and roadmap. Best in class products will be selected for use in NSS Labs next generation test facility.

The RFI process is open to any vendor with a relevant product or service in the following categories:

• Multi-gigabit network test and analysis
• Multi-gigabit switching and routing
• Power conditioning, management & Backup power protection
• Cooling solutions
• Rack and cabling systems
• Environmental and physical datacenter management
• Penetration testing
• Protocol fuzzing & stability

Responses should include marketing and technical collateral, product line briefings, including a minimum 2-year roadmap. Access to appropriate and relevant hardware and software should also be provided.

NSS Labs will perform briefings and interviews in phase one, to be followed by demos and on-site evaluations. Selections will be made on a rolling basis through Summer and Q3 of 2008.

Identified products and tools will be used to evaluate products such as:

-           Network IPS, multi-gigabit up to 10

-           UTM

-           Host IPS

-           Vulnerability scanners

-           Mail gateway appliances for malware filtering and performance

-           Next generation network firewalls

-           Web application firewalls

-           Web app test tools

-           All related security products used to protect cardholder data
