Security Update Monitor for IPS

Security Update Monitor for IPS

With attacks evolving and accelerating at an ever faster pace, it is important for Network IPS products to keep up with the threats. NSS Labs' SUM service provides IT security professionals with timely data on the effectiveness of products; this can assist in purchases as well as monitoring existing vendors. The objective of the Security Update Monitor (SUM) services is to provide a baseline test of a security vendor’s ability to protect against the current set of threats using a Network IPS.

Thus, the NSS Labs SUM Test provides a recurring analysis of protection based on the most current security updates that a vendor has made available. These updates often contain signatures, heuristics and other software patches. In addition, NSS Labs reports the associated throughput of a given security effectiveness score, acknowledging the balance between security and performance.
