Vik Phatak - Chairman, Chief Executive Officer

Vik Phatak serves as Chairman and CEO of NSS Labs. He most recently served as CTO for Ambiron Trustwave (ATW), the world’s largest PCI assessor. Vik joined ATW following its acquisition of Lucid Security Corporation, a company founded by Mr. Phatak in 2002. He served as Lucid’s CTO, developing three generations of ipANGEL, which soon became one of the Information Security industry’s leading IPS appliances for enterprise-class environments.

Mr. Phatak is an intrusion prevention pioneer and one of the Information Security industry’s foremost thought leaders on vulnerability management and threat protection. Prior to Lucid, Phatak served as Global Manager of Enterprise Internet and Security Services at Teleflex, a publicly-traded global manufacturing company, and served as a co-founder of Intermedia Sciences Group, Inc., a security consulting firm.

A frequent industry speaker, Mr. Phatak has delivered presentations at the America’s Capital Growth Conference in 2006, the 2006 Homeland Security for Networked Industries Conference, CSI Netsec 2005, Information Security Decisions and regional appearances at ISSA chapters in Charlotte, Philadelphia, and New Jersey.

Rick Moy - President

As president of NSS Labs, Rick Moy is responsible for all business and editorial aspects of the company's operations. He is a leading expert with over 15 years experience in the network security industry. His background spans software development, network administration, product management, business development, and sales & marketing for a variety of network security technologies, including intrusion prevention, anti-malware, content filtering and SIM. Rick is a noted speaker and has appeared in dozens of print, online and television media. Prior to joining NSS Labs, he served in a variety of key positions at leading technology upstarts, such as Websense, ESET, Protego Networks (Cisco), Preventsys (McAfee), Lucid Security (Trustwave), and HighTower. Rick holds a B.S. in Cognitive Science from UCSD and an MBA from SDSU.

Bob Walder - Chief Scientist, Founder

Bob Walder, a leading authority on network security, is one of the founders of The NSS Group.

His unique insight into the computer industry in general, and the security problems facing network administrators in particular, is born from over twenty years in the industry and considerable experience in the end-user environment. For 11 years, Mr. Walder worked at the ‘sharp end’ of the industry, undertaking key roles in a range of different environments, including a computer vendor and software house, local government, manufacturing, and financial institutions. His final years in industry were as Group IT Manager of a large multi-site manufacturing organisation.

Since forming NSS in 1991, Mr. Walder has been at the cutting edge of new technology and has invested much of his time in advising on, testing and certifying a range of security products on behalf of end user organisations, vendors and certification bodies. He is also a regular contributor of technical articles to the major networking and security titles.
