New product testing to include Advanced Endpoint Protection, Virtual Firewall, and Industrial Control Firewall

AUSTIN, Texas – January 27, 2016 – NSS Labs, the world’s leading information security research and advisory company, announced today its 2016 schedule of security product group tests covering twelve leading categories.

Popular tests including Next Generation Firewall, Web Application Firewall, and Breach Detection System will be published again in 2016, along with new categories including Advanced Endpoint Protection, Virtual Firewall, and Industrial Control Firewall. For each solution-focused group test, NSS will publish deep-dive Test Reports for each product, along with Comparative Reports on how the products were rated for security, performance, and total cost of ownership.

A companion Security Value Map will illustrate the relative value of security investment options by mapping the security effectiveness and value (TCO per Protected Mbps) of tested product configurations, providing an aggregated view from the group tests that will determine whether the product receives a Recommended, Neutral, or Caution rating. Accompanying these reports will be NSS advisory briefings to advise clients on environment-specific security effectiveness.

“We are pleased that the market has increasingly relied on our objective testing to drive business decisions,” said Vikram Phatak, CEO of NSS Labs. “With security technologies rapidly evolving, our tests provide a foundation for enterprises to determine if their own security product choices are the right ones for their environments.”

The 2016 group test publications are scheduled to include the following technologies:

  • Next Generation Firewall
  • Distributed Denial-of-Service Prevention
  • Secure Web Gateway
  • Next Generation Intrusion Prevention System
  • Breach Detection System
  • Web Application Firewall
  • Data Center Firewall
  • Advanced Endpoint Protection
