Although endpoint antivirus products have been a cornerstone of enterprise security architecture for more than 20 years, enterprises believe they fall short of modern requirements for security effectiveness, user impact, and amount of actionable forensic content. In response to these perceived failings, a new category of security products has emerged —described by NSS Labs as advanced endpoint protection (AEP).

Not surprisingly, claims of capabilities and value differ among AEP products. Many security teams are declaring a need for AEP, but switching to these products may not be the best decision for every organization. And if you do decide to switch, determining which AEP product is the right fit for your organization can be challenging. Part 1 of NSS’ series on selecting an AEP product looks at products currently on the market and provides guidance.
