In 2016, NSS Labs coined the term “Advanced Endpoint Protection” (AEP) to refer to a category of security products designed to solve the challenges surrounding endpoint protection. In this case, “advanced” refers not only to the problems these products are trying to solve, but also to the technology used within them.

Not surprisingly, claims of effectiveness and value differ among AEP vendors. Enterprises use data on security effectiveness and value from NSS’ AEP group tests to differentiate between products. This information facilitates a manageable and effective proof of concept with products that align with an enterprise’s requirements.

Part 1 of this series provides a strategic overview of AEP product selection, including the product definition, common drivers for change, and overall evaluation criteria. Parts 2 and 3 will continue the discussion and also evaluate feature sets and product test results.
